Bella (Albina)
Adopted
Albina and her puppies were our most desperate and severe Dog case to date. When our local shelter called, they told us about a mama dog who had just arrived 24 hours earlier—and she was already in labor.
But something went terribly wrong.
Her first puppy got stuck in the birth canal, and she had to be rushed into an emergency C-section. Sadly, her first pup didn’t make it, and Albina lost so much blood that she was too weak to stand or produce milk. The shelter knew her remaining nine puppies had little to no chance of survival.
Within the hour, we had Albina and her babies safe at A & K Animal Rescue. But the shelter was right—she couldn’t stand, couldn’t nurse, and couldn’t care for her pups.
So, we did it for her.
For weeks, we hand-fed Albina and all nine puppies—every two hours, day and night. We even had to lift Albina up and carry her outside to go to the bathroom.
The shelter recommended that we separate her from her puppies so we could focus on her recovery. But our mom said that would break any mother’s heart. So, we kept them together.
Slowly, Albina gained strength. Her puppies thrived, and eventually, when she was ready, she started nursing them on her own.
It was a long, exhausting journey, but we are so grateful to say that every single one of Albina’s puppies survived. Most of them inherited her striking albino eyes, and now, they are all Adopted and in happy forever homes.
Albina’s fight to survive, her determination to care for her babies, and her unbreakable bond with her pups make her one of the most incredible rescues we’ve ever had. ❤️
