Dog

Carma

Adopted

Carma, a 13-year-old sweetheart, spent way too long at our local shelter. Everyone loved her, but because of her health issues, she kept getting overlooked. We tried multiple times to adopt her, but something always got in the way.

The last time we went, she had a cold, which meant she couldn’t come home to our Dog puppies. We were devastated. Then, right before our eyes, a sweet little old lady Adopted her. It felt like an answer to prayers! We told the kids—they were heartbroken but happy knowing she was safe.

But a few weeks later… Carma was back on the adoption list!  The lady couldn’t care for her, and a Dog family had stepped in. We didn’t hesitate—we rushed to the shelter, and this time, she was finally ours.

We knew she was special, so we gave her a special name - Carma-Sophia. But soon, we realized she had another name-worthy trait: an extreme obsession with car rides.

Every day, Carma had one goalescape and sit in the middle of a high-speed road, waiting for a ride.  Dozens of kind strangers called, thinking they had rescued a lost dog. Little did they know, they were fueling her addiction. The more people picked her up, the more determined she was to get out again.

To keep her (and drivers) safe, we made a huge decision—investing in 20,000 feet of extra fencing to secure our 180-acre property. It took time, but we finally made the land Carma-proof.

One stranger, after hearing about all our fencing efforts, jokingly said: “Wouldn’t it have been cheaper to just buy her an old junker car to sit in all day?” … Honestly? Probably.

Now, Carma-Sophia is safe at home, still dreaming of car rides but happily behind her fences.
