Mama Eve’s story is one of heartbreak, strength, and second chances. We were contacted by our local shelter about a mama dog and her litter of eight tiny puppies. Just hours after the call, we received devastating news — one of her babies had already passed away.

When we arrived, we found Mama Eve emaciated and exhausted, having given every ounce of strength to her puppies while barely eating herself. You could see the grief in her eyes — she knew her baby was gone. Still, she remained devoted to the others, even as her own body struggled to keep up.

One of her puppies, a little girl, was born with legs that had never worked. The shelter team gave us medication and told us she would need daily therapy and lots of love — and we were determined to give it. We brought the whole family home and began round-the-clock care.

Now, Mama Eve and her babies are safe and healing. The pups are learning to eat solid food, and Mama Eve is finally resting, knowing she doesn't have to carry the weight of it all alone anymore.

She is a quiet fighter, a beautiful soul, and a true example of the kind of strength that inspires everything we do at A & K Animal Rescue.
