Nicholas came to A & K Animal Rescue with Savannah from our local animal shelter. Both of them had serious problems with their eyes, but Nicholas's condition was especially concerning. We were told that he was expected to be completely blind.

We took him home and began his rehabilitation, not knowing how much vision he would ever have.

Today, Nicholas has one dark eye with no vision, but his other eye works great. That's actually how he got his name. Nicholas was named after Marvel's Nick Fury, the famous one-eyed superhero. We thought it fit him perfectly.

And honestly, Nicholas doesn't seem to think there is anything different about him.

He prefers spending his time outside, where he explores, talks to us constantly, and hangs out with his absolute favorite animals in the world: dogs.

Nicholas LOVES dogs.

Big dogs, little dogs, puppies. He doesn't care. Whenever we have a litter of foster puppies, Nicholas will lie right down in the middle of them and let the entire group climb all over him. We have watched ten puppies crawl across him at once, and he is completely happy. When there aren't puppies around, you can usually find him hanging out with our big dogs.

He is vocal, confident, funny, and completely comfortable being exactly who he is.

Nicholas came to us as a kitten who was expected to live his life in darkness. Instead, he grew into one of the most adventurous and social cats at A & K.
