Olive’s story started at our local feed store — one of those “we were just stopping in for something else” kind of trips. But then we saw her. And three other baby chicks. And let’s just say… we couldn’t leave them behind.

You know those moments when your heart says yes before your head catches up? That was this one.

So home we went — not just with four baby chicks, but also with an extra-large chick bucket, hay for comfort, a red heat lamp, a water feeder, food, and everything else we didn’t realize we needed until we were checking out.

Since it was the middle of winter, the chicks couldn’t go outside, so they moved into the mushroom — a special room we had built just for animal care. They stayed warm and cozy inside for a long time until we could slowly integrate them with the rest of our chicken pack. It was definitely a process… but now?

We’ve got happy hens, lots of love, and fresh eggs that our dog pack gets to enjoy every single day.

All because of Olive — the little “yes” that led to something much bigger.
