Chicken
Oreo
Adopted
Oreo’s story started in the middle of a neighborhood, where she had somehow found herself all alone — dodging cats, dogs, and curious neighbors. A sweet family from our dance community noticed the little chicken wandering around, being chased by pets and trying to hide wherever she could.
At dance class, they showed us a picture of her — curled up and sleeping in their front yard flower pot. That was it. We knew she needed help.
Within the hour, we were on our way to rescue her. The family told us they had tried to catch her, along with several neighbors — but no one could get close. Oreo was too fast and too scared.
But that’s when Adoniah, our animal whisperer, stepped in. She calmly walked up to the little chicken, held out her arms… and Oreo let her pick her up like they’d known each other forever.
We brought her home that night, gave her a warm, quiet place to rest, and introduced her slowly to the rest of our flock. Now, Oreo roosts happily with Salt, Pepper, Olive, Marshmallow, and French Fries — living safe, loved, and far away from flower pots and neighborhood chaos.
