Meet Phoenix

Phoenix came to A & K Animal Rescue as one of five puppies suffering from a severe skin condition. Large patches of fur were missing, Phoenix's skin was painful and irritated, and far more care was needed than most puppies that age.

Although Phoenix had been unwanted because of the condition, we knew this little puppy deserved the chance to heal.

For more than six weeks, Phoenix received oral medication along with gentle treatments of coconut oil and castor oil twice each day to soothe the skin and help healthy fur grow back. Healing took patience, consistency, and a whole lot of love.

Little by little, Phoenix's beautiful coat began to return. The itchy, uncomfortable puppy we first met slowly transformed into a happy, playful dog full of confidence.

Phoenix's journey did not end there.

Phoenix was accepted into a training program at Cesar Millan's Dog Psychology Center, where confidence continued to grow while preparing for life with a forever family. Before the program was over, Phoenix had found a loving home.

Phoenix arrived feeling unwanted but left surrounded by love, confidence, and a bright future.

Sometimes healing takes time, but every life is worth the wait.
