Queen Esther came to A & K Animal Rescue as a tiny, helpless kitten who had already been rejected… not once, but over and over again. The person who found her told us that her mom kept picking her up and literally dumping her out of their home. Each time, the kind person tried to place her back with her mother — hoping she’d be accepted. But the mama cat just wouldn’t have it.

So, they reached out to us and asked if we wanted a baby kitten. And of course, we said YES.

We bottle-fed Esther around the clock until she grew strong and healthy. She quickly became part of our family and lived indoors until she was big enough to explore the outside world. Since we had never seen another cat in eight years of living on the property, we assumed outdoor access would be safe…

Well… Esther had other plans.

She disappeared for a little while — and came back pregnant.

Queen Esther gave birth to five beautiful kittens right upstairs in our guest bedroom. We supported her through every step of motherhood. After raising her babies, Esther was spayed and officially promoted to full-time queen status.

She now lives happily with two of her kittens, while the others were Adopted into loving homes.

From being tossed out by her own mother to becoming a mother herself, Queen Esther’s story is one of resilience, surprise, and a whole lot of royalty.
