The I Love Lucy group was our very first Dog experience — the start of our Dog care program at A & K Animal Rescue. We had just walked into our local shelter and signed up as an official Dog family when we were handed four tiny 4-week-old puppies.

We love giving our animal groups matching names, and this litter was inspired by our Aunt Dana and her favorite classic show. So naturally, we named them: Ricky, Lucy, Ethel, and Dana.

We cared for them around the clock, helped them grow strong, and when the time was right, each one was Adopted into a loving forever home.

We still keep in touch with two of their families — and Dana, the pup, lives with a young woman who works the night shift. Dana goes with her to work and then curls up and sleeps in her bed when they get home. She still sends us updates and photos, and our hearts just about melt every time.

These pups weren’t just a Dog group — they were the beginning of A & K’s Dog journey. And they’ll always be part of our story.
